Carol Reeder, began dance at age 5, when her mother enrolled her in ballet to strengthen her rolling ankles and knocked knees. She continued her training within the Cecchetti method of ballet throughout high school studding with Roselle Frey, a student of Anna Pavlova’s. After majoring in dance at UCLA, Carol began her teaching career with a local dance studio and continued her dance education, passing the Cecchetti teacher’s exams through to Licentiate. She also danced professionally in the play “The King & I”. Five years later she opened her own studio in Hacienda Heights and then a second one in Whittier. In 2002 she began teaching at Pacific Coast Academy of Dance and wrote “To the Pointe” a text and course of personal discovery beyond the ballet class in basic movement anatomy, placement, bodily weaknesses/strengths, and balance. She stayed with PCAD until its closing and came to SCC in the beginning of 2017.
