Musical Theatre Director and Dance Instructor
Marji Himes graduated with a BA in Dance and MFA in Musical Theatre from UC Irvine. During this time she performed at Disneyland and then went on to perform a season with Ringling Bros., Barnum and Bailey circus in Japan. Marji has performed with one of Orange County's premier Jazz Dance company, Jazz Spectrum; under the direction of the late Christine Baltes. Due to her attention to detail, Marji was named the company's rehearsal mistress. Marji has taught and choreographed at several of Orange County's community colleges. She is currently an adjunct faculty member at Saddleback College where she is a member of the Dance Faculty as well as an instructor for the Emeritus program. Marji is also a returning choreographer for Aliso Niguel High School's Spring Musical as well as at St. John's Episcopal. At SCC, Marji is the Director of the Musical Theatre Conservatory where she heads a team in training performers in singing, dancing and acting techniques; preparing them to be leads in SCC's Spring Festival as well as other local performances. Marji has instructed and mentored dancers; successfully assisting them in getting accepted to OCSA and various college programs. She is proficient in Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre, and various fitness programs. Marji teaches all her classes under the premis of "serious fun." She is passionate for clean technique, while ensuring her students are having a fun experience in class.
